Goncalo (Tigerwood)

Goncalo Alves (Tigerwood) is found from Mexico to Brazil.  It is a multi-colored wood that resembles tiger stripes. Goncalo turns and finishes well.  It is generally easy to work with, although highly figured pieces can be difficult.  Glueing it can be troublesome.  Besides turning and carving, Goncalo is often used for flooring, furniture, and cabinets.
